After the second time Roger got beat up his mother smacked him and gave him a stick and more money. Then he conquered his fear of being jumped by the boys and beat them all.

Because his mother kept telling him to go, and even threatened to beat him if he didn't bring home the groceries.

Richards mother decided to do something after the second time Richard got beat up.

She found out because every time Richard would get beat up he would go crying and reporting back to her that a bunch of dudes kept hitting him.

She meant for him to realize she wasn't playing games, and that she meant business about getting her groceries, and that no little stupid gang is going to stop her from getting them.

I can tell that she wasn't a sympathetic mother. She was a "you better do what i say or you are gonna have issues with me"type of mother.

i would classify him as a kind of coward because of the fact that he tried to run in the house after his mother told him to go back out, and the fact that he kept running, and letting the gang take his mothers money.

9.What can you say about Richard's development throughout the story?

i could say that Richard came up from being a little punk, to being a furious warrior with a stick in hand ready to battle more.

10.How would you summarize the story up?

i would summarize this story up by saying that Richard was a scared boy who was raised up to be a good anti-violent little boy.All that changes when a gang of boys beat him up twice to get his shopping money. He goes home and tells his mother and tries to run in the house but instead he receives a blow in the face from his mother, is handed a stick and told to go get his groceries and not to come back without them or he will be beat. from then he makes his transformation from a coward to a soldier who is ready for war.
